Spring Bake Sale at Bishop Ranch Raises Funds for Lights of Hope
On a sunny Saturday in May, Contra Costa County ACS SEL members set up a bake sale outside Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, spending the afternoon raising funds for Lights of Hope and spreading awareness about ACS CAN's advocacy mission.
Members baked, donated goods, and staffed the table in shifts, engaging shoppers and passersby with information about the chapter and the broader fight against cancer. Many people stopped not just to buy something but to share their own stories — a reminder of how universal cancer's reach is, even in a single afternoon in a shopping center parking lot.
All proceeds from the sale went toward the chapter's 2026 Lights of Hope campaign, building on the $2,750 the chapter raised in 2025. Alongside the bake sale, members distributed ACS CAN materials and had a sign-up sheet for anyone interested in learning more or joining.
Events like this — low-barrier, community-facing, and personal — are part of how we plan to keep growing our presence in Contra Costa County beyond the walls of any one school or organization.
